Many professional service businesses such as mortgage brokers, real estate agents, travel agents and financial services representatives require the use of a notary public when serving their clients, but don’t have the resources to keep a notary public on staff.

Because the notary performing the acknowledgement or jurat  may not benefit from the documents being notarized, the professional service provider is forbidden from acting as the notary public.
